New Charting Options

December 23, 2024

As you know there are two different types of charts in use on SwingTradeBot.  There's the TradingView widget, which is an interactive chart:

and there is a more basic & static chart, which is shown in the hover (pop-up) charts and when you view a "full page of charts" for scan results, watchlist, portfolios, etc.  I'm going to refer to them as "quick charts".

Well those quick charts have always displayed a specific set of indicators: a 50-day moving average and Bollinger Bands (20,2).  Over the years several people have asked about being able to show a different MA.  Well now you can!  If you visit the Chart Preferences page you'll see settings for both types of charts.  On the right is the new section which is for the quick charts.

It allows you to specify two different overlays, the number of days to display and whether or not to show trendlines.  (More on the trendlines in the next blog post)

For those who haven't visited the chart preferences page in a white, note that there's now the ability to choose the "bar style" for the TradingView widget. Here are the choices:

Another new addition is that both types of charts can be displayed on the individual stock pages.  The page defaults to the TradingView widget but there's now a button / tab which will allow you to flip to the "quick chart":

I hope you'll find the new options useful.
