Defense is Still on the Field | GoNoGo Charts (01.05.23)
almost 2 years ago by StockCharts @ StockCharts.com YouTube Channel

In this first episode of the GoNoGo Show for 2023, Alex Cole and Tyler Wood, CMT examine a market that is largely consistent with the choppy downtrends and defensive characteristics of the prior year. The major difference across the asset classes is that the US Dollar index is in a NoGo and Gold has finally begun to shine. The threat of further rally in treasury yields is present but yet unconfirmed. Within US Equities, Alex and Tyler look closely at Utilities (XLU) and the Excelon Corporation (EXC), a $36B Chicago-based electricity company. In addition, the recent relative strength of the Financials sector (XLF) against the benchmark provided an interesting trade idea on Jefferies Investment Bank (JEF). 00:13 - Intro 01:13 - GoNoGo Asset Class Heat Map 03:11 - S&P 500 - remains NoGo - Daily & Weekly 07:07 - TNX - Fresh Go Trend - Daily & Weekly 08:26 - UUP - US Dollar Continues NoGo, Oscillator rejected at 0 line 09:41 - USO - Daily Go, Weekly NoGo - resolved down 12:48 - GoNoGo S...

Our bearish view going into 2023 is predicated upon five key points: Chart #1: The Fed's restrictive policy agenda. Chart #2: The odds of a recession in 2023 have increased dramatically. Chart #3: The risk of an earnings drawdown is not priced into the market. Chart #4: Equity valuations remain historically extreme. Chart #5: Our Elliott Wave analysis projects an imminent "third-of-a-third" wave decline. 00:00 Intro 02:14 Restrictive Policy Agenda 04:37 Best Recession Indicator 05:38 Recession EPS Drawdowns 07:17 Valuations Remain Extreme 09:36 Long Term Elliott Wave Model 11:41 Short Term Elliott Wave Model Connect With Jeffrey Website: www.jwhinvestment.comhttps://twitter.com/Alpha_Insights Trade Exchange: ALPHA INSIGHTS LinkedIn: Jeffrey W. Post-Covid New Year has a sluggish start for Markets.
almost 2 years ago by noreply@blogger.com (Declan Fallon) @ Fallond Picks

As a birthday treat, I finally grabbed a dose of Omicron, delivering enough fun and games to keep me low for the early part of the week.  The New Year is well underway - and the market - well, it hasn't done a whole lot since I last left it. People have stopped believing in Santa, and market action was all a bit slushy, so what have we to look at.  The S&P is holding the support level defined back in the early October swing high.  Volume has picked up on the slow return of traders as On-Balance-Volume continues to trend downwards.  We have a switch back to the underperformance against the Russell 2000. Optimists might look to the upcoming MACD trigger 'buy'.  At this stage, given the length of the consolidation, and its compactness, it looks like one that will break lower. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw2cUhN0-JiXNKyeuzIiYbJ9bi6jWStQjQ5NV6QC5AX22rDmXW0y7J0rTgenFUcZqbz...
